A Day of Strategy, Spirit, and Significance
Izabella Kovacs started the week off by leading two outstanding assemblies raising awareness for the Robert Katende Initiative in Uganda—supporting education, welfare, and mentorship through the power of chess.
On Friday 23rd May marked a truly memorable occasion at Horizon International School as we hosted the EVOLV3 Chess Tournament and Dress Down Day in honour of our beloved former student, Ryan Youlden. The day carried a poignant and reflective tone as the whole school dressed in black and white—symbolising the chessboard and hope as we came together in remembrance and unity.
The chess tournament was a success, showcasing exceptional talent, focus, and sportsmanship. Students from Year 2 to Year 8 competed in five serious and intense rounds of chess, demonstrating not only strong understanding but remarkable speed of play.
